I kind of see where dboy is coming from. It's not that people in Vancouver are too complacent or they aren't afraid enough - it's that people in the UK have a disproportionate fear of crime against...

In Canada there would probably be a unionized crown corporation to go along with the ones that run gambling and booze. You see the state really is like the Mafia.

The thing is we know from the precedent of what happened with alcohol that this wouldn't happen. You don't see organized crime producing it's own alcohol to sell - there just isn't any money in it...

Yes, there is too much money in the 'war on drugs' for the US to liberalize on a federal level - it will have to come from individual states. You never know, it might happen eventually as there are...

I saw this earlier. It wasn't clear if it was a hollywood style gunfight or one guy shooting up a bunch of people. It's lucky nobody was killed. Oh well, prohibition proved ineffective again.
