Re: Winter 2017-18

We've had a very mild winter with not a lot of snow. Friend of mine who works as a small engine mechanic fixing snow blowers in the winter and lawn mowers in the summer is basically on a 4 day week...

Re: Winter 2017-18

You think they send a guy out on the runway with a ruler? Whether it's an airport or not, snowfall is measured in the same way. From EC: "At Environment Canada, snow is measured by automated...

Re: Winter 2017-18

Re: Winter 2017-18

We had a windy night and about 8cm of snow before it turned to rain. Went out and cleared it all today before the temp drops tonight and it all freezes. This afternoon St John's NL was warmer than...

Re: Winter 2017-18

Last year in Feb, I had to get a man with a tractor and snowblower to clear the fence line so the dog wouldn't jump (or step) over the fence. Not yet at that stage this year but the three days of...

Re: Winter 2017-18

I'm free of such equine cost considerations, but the downside of the powered garage door is the shagging around with the magic eye sensor that invariably gets covered with snow thus refusing to close...

Re: Winter 2017-18

And strong winds, judging by the depth of the low tracking through. For this part of the world it will be a bit of snow then rain as it's tracking through the Gulf of St Lawrence. Rain means less...

Re: Winter 2017-18

That's why I'm adding a generator connection this year. Truth to tell, we've had very few outages lasting longer than an hour or so in the 13 years we've been in this place. But when it does go out...

Re: Winter 2017-18

Cab's are expensive I know, but LED flood/spot lights for offroad use are dirt cheap through ebay & amazon. Surely not beyond the wit of man to wire a couple up to your rollbar facing backwards to...

Re: Winter 2017-18

Ah yes, I've tripped over trickle charger cords as well!;) I had to invest in one for the quad because I was forever flattening the battery either just through plowing or through forgetting to turn...

Re: Winter 2017-18

St. John’s in the 50% bracket too. Sounds about right based on my 13 Year’s living here. I don’t think we’ll have a white Christmas this year -tomorrow is going to be wet and windy but +15c!

Re: Winter 2017-18

Bright sunshine and if not quite T shirt weather, I only needed a t-shirt and sweatshirt while outside today. 9ish was the high. Quite happy with that as we have an extension under construction at...
