The only real reason for spending your savings is to get some benefit out of it before the government reduces its value with yet more quantitative easing.

I agree.

The pound exchange rate won't rise until they start destroying some £s or Aus starts printing $s. I can't see either happening in the near future.

Still not impressed. You made the prediction on the 30 June for the 31 July and it came true on 2 September. A one month prediction coming true 2 months later is like a 100% margin of error.

The 2p piece is another useless coin. Twice the size and twice the weight of a penny. The 20p is beauty in itself and yet most people appear to hate them. :blink:

But what about the £2 coin? What's the point of having it twice the size and twice the weight of the £1 coin? May as well just carry 2 £1 coins. :blink:
