I think you'll need to up that budget quite a bit more - $550 to $600 a week would be entry level and would just about get you into some of the cheapest (read least desirable or farthest out)...

Most certainly it would be a hard knock life, unless of course coming here as a singleton sharing accommodation costs or wadged up with cash to purchase property outright.

No absolutely not true, since 2010, when all became one 'supercity'. Would you similarly deny Waitakere or North Shore the right to be counted as Auckland?
