It's no better than average according to this: http://www.iihs.org/RATINGS/summary.aspx?class=50

Re: Exporting vehicle and Household goods - Any Advice!

How are you stuck with them? Just don't buy one unless you really need one (for it's towing capacity, for example).

Re: Exporting vehicle and Household goods - Any Advice!

The difference in size of the fuel tank in my SUV and F150 is 10 litres. I wouldn't expect much difference in terms of explosion size once either was ignited. It's a lousy argument to base the choice...

Re: Exporting vehicle and Household goods - Any Advice!

More fool those that choose an SUV over a car and expect the SUV to stop/slow down in anywhere near the same distance in order to avoid a collision, or have the steering dynamics to be able to swerve...

Re: Exporting vehicle and Household goods - Any Advice!

Not sure what point you're trying to make, they just marketed it as a hatchback, so no relevance to a sports car.

Additional performance, reducing weight etc doesn't transform a car into a new...

Re: Exporting vehicle and Household goods - Any Advice!

BTW, given this stance and as you're not using the silhouette of the car as any sort of definition of a sports car, how do you differentiate between say a WRX, BMW 330, Honda S200, Nissan 350z and a...

Re: Exporting vehicle and Household goods - Any Advice!

I'm only pointing out that your interpretation flies in the face of decades of corporate marketing and the car manufacturers own definitions. I'm not telling you what it should be, I'm telling you...

Re: Exporting vehicle and Household goods - Any Advice!

It might sum it up for you, but your interpretation is still off.

I'll reiterate, as you're continuing to ignore the central point. Neither BMW or Honda market those vehicles as sports cars,...

Re: Exporting vehicle and Household goods - Any Advice!

Towing capacity and comparative frugality were the top reasons I purchased an M-class. 4WD's good for a slippy boat dock, but who's really going to off road with any degree of bravado in a $60k SUV?

Re: Exporting vehicle and Household goods - Any Advice!

Here in Canada, that diesel engine wouldn't be considered powerful enough to grace a work truck. Ford's most recent diesel engine for the F-series is the 6.7-liter Power Stroke V-8 which has 735...

Re: Exporting vehicle and Household goods - Any Advice!

I don't care if it's modern or old, the definition remains the same. I didn't provide my own definition, just the consensus of hundreds of websites, all of which you seem to be disagreeing with.

Re: Exporting vehicle and Household goods - Any Advice!

Once you're here, you'll appreciate the cost of servicing in Canada. Many vehicles are on 5 or 6,000km scheduled intervals. My SUV's on a 15,000km interval and that's generally considered as...

Re: Exporting vehicle and Household goods - Any Advice!

No it hasn't. The technology of manufacture may have moved on, but the definition remains the same. Google for a definition and you'll find that the consensus is along the lines of: 'a small low car...

Re: Exporting vehicle and Household goods - Any Advice!

The price premium, and additional servicing costs mean that unless you cover a lot of miles, it makes no sense to choose it over the gas engine.

Re: Exporting vehicle and Household goods - Any Advice!

Manufacturers don't, AFAIK, make any claims about whole of life enviro-friendliness. It'd be impossible to do so due to almost infinite variables about how the vehicle is used and maintained.

Re: Exporting vehicle and Household goods - Any Advice!

What leads you to think they're misleading? If they're all measured in the same controlled way they're at least comparable to each other.
