There are a few small airlines operating out of Ottawa, mainly heading up north. They have some pretty old equipment (like 737's with turbojets, as opposed to fans). It could well be that. We do get...

I wonder about that. We're a good 15 miles from Ottawa airport and there is a hill between us. I can quite often hear planes taking off. Wind direction?
