Re: What's wrong with Canada?

Actually, I would probably have ignored you. The department I worked in was much more accessible to the outside world than the CIC (in terms of contact details) and in the same building. We received...

Re: What's wrong with Canada?

I doubt that I can give you any answer that will satisfy you. From what I can see, your application was rejected on medical grounds. The CIC people would have applied the information they had to the...

Re: What's wrong with Canada?

Nah, productivity shot up.

I do get a bit racked off with what seems to be a constant slagging-off of the CIC people at the CHC. I knew many of them (most are probably still there). All very...

Re: What's wrong with Canada?

Are they indeed? That's news to me but what would I know? I only worked there for four years.

Re: What's wrong with Canada?

That, I don't know. I no longer live in Ontario and thus rarely buy booze there.

I imagine, however, that you wouldn't bulk-buy beer in an LCBO if there was a Beer Store nearby.

Re: What's wrong with Canada?

In general, you can't buy alcohol in supermarkets in Ontario. Some have outlets for individual Ontario wineries but for anything else you are stuck with the LCBO/Beer Store.

I don't think the LCBO...

Re: What's wrong with Canada?

The LCBO is, yes. The Beer Store is owned by a consortium of major brewers. It is regulated by the provincial government.

The same situation is not present in all parts of Canada. Here in QC, good...

Re: What's wrong with Canada?

Last time I looked into it, inhaling water was known as drowning.

You may wish to try using nasal strips. Or olbas oil.

Re: What's wrong with Canada?

Do people follow you into elevators, or do they wait for the next one?

Re: What's wrong with Canada?

Thanks for the clarification. It goes some way to explaining the massive hangover I got in Dubai some years back. On Fosters.

Re: What's wrong with Canada?

I seem to remember reading years ago that beers brewed for export were made stronger so that they would travel better. Is that right?

Re: What's wrong with Canada?

One would expect the LCBO to have a fairly wide range, given that it claims to be the world's largest buyer of wine and spirits. What racked me off about the LCBO was that, if they didn't want to...

Re: What's wrong with Canada?

A lot of those stores are franchise operations. The two IGA stores local to me are owned and run by the same family.

Yes, you do have to pay to join Costco. It's well worth it.

Re: What's wrong with Canada?

I wasn't talking about tourist resorts either. I made a number of business trips to countries in the Middle East in the 90s and English was the default language.

Re: What's wrong with Canada?

While I applaud your sentiment, I think learning French if you're going to BC is a bit pointless. Francophones make up only about 1.2% of the province's population and they are probably thinly...

Re: What's wrong with Canada?

If we're getting into acronyms and dodgy names, I saw a great one at the weekend, in Home Depot. It was on a label for a rather nasty wrecking bar/crowbar. It was called the "Fubar". I found that...

Re: What's wrong with Canada?

Not a great example, I admit. Just the first one that came to mind.

What would the Quebec beer Tremblay be? It reminds me much of Urquell, or Becks.

Re: What's wrong with Canada?

Ok. So, while Urquell is a pilsner, something like Stella would be a European lager?

Re: What's wrong with Canada?

How does Pilsner differ from European lager? Keep it simple, please.
