I think I'd have to disagree with the last one...I've never heard a british person pronounce it anything other than lon-ger-ray...apart from the really irritating people who pronounce it "lin-ger...

We Canadians are a lazy bunch...we use all our energy shovelling snow, we have none left if your name is over 1 syllable ;)

No, I just figure that your parents, having known me for 7 years, regularly forget my name. It's still better than them calling me "Kath" though! ;)

It took me several months before I would introduce myself as Kay-tee...it still doesn't feel 100% natural, and I've now been saying it that way for 15 years! What was more confusing was shortly...

I was so confused when I moved from Canada and my name pronunciation changed from "Kadie" to "Katie"...the spelling didn't change (is actually Katie), but I cringed everytime someone said my name for...

I know why I said alooominum...because that's how it's spelled in the Canadian/US dictionary! There is no second 'i', so it's aluminum instead of aluminium. If it was spelled the same it would...
