Re: Advice on 4X4 lease and types.

That'll be very similar to this truck. Not one that was able to go up our driveway.

Re: Advice on 4X4 lease and types.

Are the Arab kids racing Ferraris around Knightsbridge chavs or does wealth and being foreign exclude them?

Re: Advice on 4X4 lease and types.

Gay men. Of course, not 100% of male Beetle drivers are gay but the generalisation is fair.

Re: Advice on 4X4 lease and types.

I do think it's an interesting phenomenon that certain behemoth SUVs, perhaps other vehicles too, sell into specific demographics. The X6, the Infinity Q56(?), sell to Asians, the Cadillac van to...

Re: Advice on 4X4 lease and types.

I've just seen an X6 in the high street here. My God that's an ugly thing! Still, I chuckled when I saw an Asian woman at the wheel.

Re: Advice on 4X4 lease and types.

You want to cut a groove down to the hard surface, something thin is better able to do that. I suspect a 2CV would go better in deep snow than an X6 though a 2CV carrying an X6 would be even better...

Re: Advice on 4X4 lease and types.

Invest? The value of the thing will drop like a stone. The fuel consumption will be such that it's much more expensive to operate than a Smart car. It's not a useful thing and it's not a thing that...

Re: Advice on 4X4 lease and types.

And you think the BMW X6 does that? My, I'm glad you don't run my portfolio (not that I really have one but, if I did, I think Bernie Madoff's would be safer hands for it).

Re: Advice on 4X4 lease and types.

Oh, don't be so precious! I've long wondered what it was in the water in Asia that made people willing to go out in a X6, now at last I've encountered someone willing to do that. Of course I'm going...

Re: Advice on 4X4 lease and types.

Needs? Well, no one needs an SUV and almost no one needs a pick up. People buy them because they like them. I thought the Mustang was great fun and tremendous value for money "Nice car, Buddy" people...

Re: Advice on 4X4 lease and types.

Better than VW, Chrysler and GM. I haven't enough recent experience of other brands to be able to compare.

Re: Advice on 4X4 lease and types.

The Focus was surprisingly good fun. "I'm going over a hundred!" giggled the driver at one point. And she was, a real hundred. Squeaky dashboard though, I couldn't live with that.

Re: Advice on 4X4 lease and types.

I had one as a rental. Utterly gutless. Only the Sebring convertible had more trouble struggling up motorway on ramps.

Re: Advice on 4X4 lease and types.

We've been in Utah, driving a Focus, for the past while. And we've just (this weekend) moved house so, somehow, it's not been much mentioned! Are you still liking yours?

Re: Advice on 4X4 lease and types.

It's a ginormous soda, chug that and you need a Yukon to haul you home!

It is all about preference but, as a man who drives a pastel Beetle convertible, I feel safe in deriding sillier choicers...

Re: Advice on 4X4 lease and types.

Front Wheel Drive is good for the snow.

Four Wheel Drive is, IMO, of little value beyond FWD on paved, or graded dirt, roads.

SUVs, for example I recently drove a Yukon for a few days, are...

Re: Advice on 4X4 lease and types.

That's why, when I moved to the country, I traded my moose gathering SVO Mustang for a Beetle. Six years later the bodywork has multiple rust perforations and the transmission is on the fritz but,...

Re: Advice on 4X4 lease and types.

I assume the OP is Asian (I've never seen an X6 driven by someone who wasn't). I admire him or her in his or her willingness to remain complete aloof from the locals, I mean, I'm willing to be hated...
