Re: I'm going home, i've done my time!!

Is that intended to explain autism?

Yes, none of this is a federal matter.

Re: I'm going home, i've done my time!!

I don't think the effect on the siblings while they are young is much of a concern. They get a bit harder due to getting into fights with kids who bully the autistic sibling. They're more aware of...

Re: I'm going home, i've done my time!!

If respect is warranted in this regard it's my ex who deserves it, second weekends and a while in the summer don't compare to every day. And there's a thing, few autistic people have parents who are...

Re: I'm going home, i've done my time!!

In contrast to the tales of progress above, I don't think there has been any significant change in my daughter in the past twenty years. I believe the "H block protest" phase ended before that though...

Re: I'm going home, i've done my time!!

No precision needed for this theme.

As a kid she played ice hockey at Moss Park. She went to school on Jarvis Street. She now works near Moss Park. As far as Toronto goes that's a fair crack...

Re: I'm going home, i've done my time!!

Nothing wrong with that. More serious observations when the curse of the demon drink leaves me, I'd like to be precise in what I say.

Re: I'm going home, i've done my time!!

A tough row to hoe, I wish you every kind of luck.

FWIW, the two conundrums (conumdri?) related to autism for which I have no good answers are: what happens to the autistic person when his or her...

Re: I'm going home, i've done my time!!

This, I think, is quite right. Autism isn't an illness, it's part of the person. One may as well ask a person to be less gay, less hetero, less left or right handed, as ask them to be less autistic.

Re: I'm going home, i've done my time!!

No offense taken. I hope though that I have shown some knowledge of autism and related issues. I can't guess why someone, not a close relative of an autistic person, would have any such knowledge.

Re: I'm going home, i've done my time!!

I readily believe that people have their diagnoses changed. Further, I know that which conditions are cases are included in the mild end of the spectrum changes all the time.

Re: I'm going home, i've done my time!!

Accurately diagnosed, yes. A fortune has been spent on the search for the formerly autistic person and the only one that comes close is Temple Grandin.

You are not talking here about people...

Re: I'm going home, i've done my time!!

There's a huge problem with diagnosis of a condition that's defined as being debilitating in that, as soon as someone recovers, they never had it in the first place. I see that but the autism...

Re: I'm going home, i've done my time!!

If there has indeed been such a change then I would take that as evidence that the son is not autistic. A characteristic of autism is an inability to deal with change, often exhibited as a need for a...

Re: I'm going home, i've done my time!!

Thank you but I'm confident that I know more about autism than I ever wanted to.

I don't buy this at all:

"It's only when people on the spectrum are younger that they need the extra help and...

Re: I'm going home, i've done my time!!

One of my daughters is emigrating from Canada. She intends to live in Limehouse. I'm not sure if that's actually in Tower Hamlets but I bet it's a lot less dirty, aggressive and overcrowded than...

Re: I'm going home, i've done my time!!

I think this is a can of worms best not spread across the papers.

A parent can only promise to fund the costs of a child while the parent lives, eventually the burden falls on the state. The...

Re: I'm going home, i've done my time!!

But the decision on immigration isn't framed solely in terms of the principal applicant, all the people on the application are considered and the Canadian laws specifically contravene what might be...

Not quite the case. In Guelph people dream of smallholdings-in-rural-ON.

Re: I'm going home, i've done my time!!

Is there any human right in the context of immigration? I have to think not, the process is selfish both on the part of government and immigrant. I can't imagine universal legislation existing to...

Re: I'm going home, i've done my time!!

Damn, wandered off, missed my chance.

I was at the spa, doncha know, being manicured while listening to something agonisingly fashionable.
