My experience was slighly different. Both my wife (E3D) and I (E3) applied for our SSN a few days after arriving and before she submitted the EAD application. The SS office accepted her application...

My wife has had 3 EAD cards under E3D and has never done biometrics for the card. The card does have something written on where it says biometrics but I can't remember.
