I got confirmation from DVLA: Alberta GDL is good enough for driving in the UK.
Just put it here in case someone wonders the same thing.

No, I haven't. Class 5 Advanced is non-GDL.
I'm already in the UK (the car rent I mentioned earlier was in the UK). I can try getting an IDP here, but it requires an UK driving license which takes...

I have an Alberta GDL (Graduated Driver's License) issued 5+ years ago.
Can I drive and get insurance in UK with this license?
I was able to rent a car but it might just be the car rental company...
