I didn’t come over on a marriage based visa. My friend sponsored me. He is still at the same address.

so because my ex husband is not my sponsor do I need to notify immigration of my divorce?...

When you say 40 quarters, what do you mean? I have been working and paying taxes since 2013.
Also my husband wasn’t my sponsor.

I have been a permanent resident here in the US for over 5 years so I don’t think getting divorced will affect applying for citizenship should I choose to apply.
