Well, I never realized that (that applies to me, but I also am looking to work in higher education, so it's not an issue).

Do you know if they still fall under the yearly H-1B cap, or are they exempt from the cap, like university teachers?

Yes, in NC they have a similar process called, I think "lateral entry".

Re: the comment on your following post, I realise there can be a lot of leeway between some states, but I think it depends...

It's a shame they didn't consider the possibility of hanging around BE so they could help others in the same situation. Sometimes it's easier to run away than stick around and make a positive...
