Re: Is Moving To Australia Still Worth It In 2017/18

The biggest factor I decided against Perth was the job front.

Australia does have a better work ethos that I can see. The homebirthing is incredible out there. I'm not shy in regard to long...

I know I would earn loads in sydney and job wise, it is extremely easy for me to get one (well I've had...

Re: Is Moving To Australia Still Worth It In 2017/18

From speaking to a close friend who was born in Adelaide and worked as a dr for many years before moving to the UK (although he visits Adelaide twice a year) I also have friends who live in Perth and...

Re: Is Moving To Australia Still Worth It In 2017/18

A fair point. Is Sydney like London in the way though that you get paid more to work in that area?

All I know is I earn rubbish here. I would earn double in Aus at the lowest of my band.

But I...

Re: Is Moving To Australia Still Worth It In 2017/18

I didn't say the UK is cheap. Just cheaper in some respects. Housing appears to be more expensive. Well, where I am anyway (not London).

It makes it easier that I'm not in it for the beaches. I...

Re: Is Moving To Australia Still Worth It In 2017/18

I can't really comment (actually I shouldn't as it's nearly 5am here and I still haven't slept yet...) and please shoot me down (gently) if I'm wrong, but Australia from the research I've done...

Re: Is Moving To Australia Still Worth It In 2017/18

If you read my other posts then you will see I stated I am under no illusions that the grass isn't greener wherever you go. It's also a place that has been on my list for a while. It's isn't a whim...

Re: Is Moving To Australia Still Worth It In 2017/18

Perhaps it could be a coping mechanism like you say. For me, I just need to do it. My career would benefit from it even if I don't stay. Life is about experiences. :)

Re: Is Moving To Australia Still Worth It In 2017/18

I agree. There is plenty to do in the UK! So that is absurd. We have the amazing British war museum (which I love)

London at Christmas is just stunning! I could make an endless list haha but I...

Re: Is Moving To Australia Still Worth It In 2017/18

I am so sorry for missing your reply! I have only just come across it.

The one thing I feel I can comment on is Hove. I have two family members there. I dont like it. Brighton is probably one of...

Re: Is Moving To Australia Still Worth It In 2017/18

You have no idea the smile you just put on my face... not because you said do it.... but because you said you can't beat the public medical care... I've delivered over 300 babies myself. I still get...

Re: Is Moving To Australia Still Worth It In 2017/18

Quite a humbling post if I'm honest. If I turn up in AUSTRALIA and find it's not for me. At least I have tried it. Life is valuable so why not try. The UK will always be waiting for me, as will my...

Re: Is Moving To Australia Still Worth It In 2017/18

Aaahhh, I used to live rural. Gone are the days I only sat behind a tractor.

I'm looking at the surrounding suburbs of Adelaide. I wouldn't be able to handle the business of Sydney or QLD. Perth...

Re: Is Moving To Australia Still Worth It In 2017/18

Okay, okay. It feels like most of the time when I'm off work and waiting for the cloud to clear before I can skydive haha THAT feels like forever.

Traffic too, that's a pain here. Don't get me...

Re: Is Moving To Australia Still Worth It In 2017/18

It was when I was a first year student (so quite some time ago). I was speaking to a midwife who had just come back to the UK after having spent 4 years on a temp visa as a midwife. She absolutely...

Re: Is Moving To Australia Still Worth It In 2017/18

What is your definition of wealthy and successful?

I see myself as successful, but by definition of others that could differ. I mean I have a masters degree in my vocation. I have a career that is...

Re: Is Moving To Australia Still Worth It In 2017/18

Haha, fair point!! To be fair I am not moving to Aus because of the beaches.... I dislike sand! I can't fully express my reasons, just a yearning I've had for a long while.

Re: Is Moving To Australia Still Worth It In 2017/18

That's what I had meant by I used to be confused why someone would migrate here. This thread has broadened my mind somewhat.

To be fair he plans to move back after being here for 15 years.

Re: Is Moving To Australia Still Worth It In 2017/18

I have been following this post for quite some time, some of it not making too much sense to me but I guess that is because I am only at the midpoint of my emigration plans.

I have commented once...

Re: Is Moving To Australia Still Worth It In 2017/18

Rather interesting to read. I often wonder whether the stress and costs are worth it but I truly think it is. Life in the UK (as much as I love England) is so hectic. I am not happy in the city...
