It wasn't "a custom." The Constitution allowed the President to run for as many terms as he wished until an amendment was passed around the late 1940s restricting the office to two terms. I suppose...

At the time of FDR, there were no restrictions on how many terms a president could have. The law (2 terms) was put in place during Truman's term but only effected Eisenhower. Truman rejected...

What wrong with the meeting? I support it. I think threatening China with tariffs may have helped pushed forward this meeting.
