Re: Dinner

And there, just when I thought we had gone full-on expatwomen.com, the usual suspect (and the one who led us down this dangerous path) pulls it back from the brink...

Re: Dinner

Pigs are susceptible to certain types of parasites to which they are particularly vulnerable in hot climates and which can transmit to humans in hot climates when the meat is not handled correctly. ...

Re: Dinner

Not buying that. Bacon cooking has a smell, yes for sure, but they don't cook it in the supermarket.

Raw meat all smells similar (except for fish) assuming its at a similar stage of putrefaction....

Re: Dinner

The smell of bacon cooking is very distinct from that of pork (and one of the most delicious smells imaginable). But if you are talking about the smell from cooking it, how do you get that at...

Re: Dinner

Proof that this is all psychological as pork has no discernible smell, certainly not that could be distinguished from any other meat.

Do you like/eat beef bacon or veal bacon? If so, then you...

Re: Dinner

Ah, so technically that is baked (or maybe braised) pork chops with a potato and onion casserole: now that's a different sounding proposition altogether...

Re: Dinner

How do you know it's horrible when you have never tasted it? (I should know better than to go down this rabbithole as I have this same discussion at home ad nauseum....).

Re: Dinner

Yes Mission, but not for the reasons you think just because you've been propagandised about poor little piggies.

Hnd, why would you submerge a poor innocent pork chop in a dank and soggy casserole...

Re: Dinner

Oh dear, you are just sooooo wrong. Probably because you are doing it wrong. I've converted my bf from being completely dismissive, and even derisive of roast chicken, to being the one who insists...

Re: Dinner

Leftover roast chicken from the weekend. Always save all the bits of skin too "soggy" to eat direct from the oven first time (the parts from the back, underneath, are the best). Dry fry those...
