Is it possible to enter the US with a renewed passport and the current visa+waiver in the old passport ?

This is not a problem with a normal visa but I've never heard of anyone doing it with a...

This is true, my last and current I94 was given until 2019 (end date of the blanket L1 visa petition).

I'll just have them send it to a friend's house or even my old job and they will forward...
