oh Trinidad is on the list of countries that do not require a visa to visit Ireland. Would I still have to apply for a C-visa then to enter Ireland with my husband and children??

DaveLovesDee, you are awesome! thanks I didn't think of a 2nd reception in the UK afterwards. :-) But I'd need the Ireland resident card first so how soon after you apply for that card is it issued?...

ohhhh, you are right. immigration would probably think I'm pulling a fast one with the "Ireland" bit and plan to overstay. A complication I don't want, especially with 2 young children in tow...
