Citizenship is different from permanent residence. You will still be a uk citizen even with a permanent Hungarian residence and therefore be able to live in your own country (uk) too.

You would still need to make an application for the permanent residency of course, but it will/would be easier if the criteria where met first (i.e. you stayed in Hungary for 5 years solid).

That is because of Tax reasons and because it is not easy to evict someone; especially if they are a residence permit holder. And especially if their address is being used on a residency application!
