I think you mean apply for a National Insurance number, my understanding given at birth, or when one turns 16, or if one is in England going to apply for one to be able to work.

Perhaps the state pension forecast on the government website is misleading- on mine it specifically gives a date several years past retirement age, which was confirmed in a phone call, that I could...

They might wish to check- I know in my case I have some years I can pay up to five years after pension age.

Actually for anyone who may know answer .If one receives social security but resident in Uk I understand per tax treaty not taxed in USA, but one still has to file USA return is the social security...

I heard the same, but also if one was 3 years in UK before leaving- whether three years contributions or not- one could make voluntary contributions back in the UK.

This all interesting because I was accepted to pay Class 3 contributions even though I hadn't worked in UK a full three years before.

My understanding if one worked 30 years in USA, the WEP rule doesnt apply for pension earned in UK from working. My question is under the totalization agreement does that mean one can use years...

Wow I had no idea under Medicare there was a deductible or copays like that. What is the benefit period, by quarter or year ?

I did look at private insurance in UK, it wasn't too expensive it...

Lets see if I understand- Medicare Part A is free if I worked enough years in USA, and covers hospital services , and I assume if for an operation Doctor at the hospital, if I don't at part B any...

So if I understand it Medicare pays the cost for an operation ? So theoretically if there was a delay in getting a necessary NHS operation I could just get it done n the states ?

the penalty is it due regardless of whether you take medicare or not , as opposed to taking it and letting it lapse for a while ?

Thanks, maybe I should have looked at earlier, so I would be annoyed and confused about whole issue. I just thought that I could received US SS and OAP without one effecting the other. Now to go back...

Hah guess you are right, if they tax it all quite easy. Seems a bit odd, if WEP kicks in to reduce my benefits, then the UK taxes them 100% if I am resident there, but then as long as I have to file...

Not sure I understand- if I defer taking the pension for two years, does that mean instead of receiving 155 a week, that I would when I take pension receive 155 + 20/8% ?

Reason is I was offered some work in UK + I have a few years to catch up n Class 3 contributions- if US social security reduced by amount of UK pension, don't know if worth catching up on voluntary...
