Re: Social Work in Australia

I don't think it would be a problem Amber. They have an equivalent role here in Australia (also AMHP - Authorised Mental Health Practitioner) but none of the jobs I applied for had it as a...

Re: Social Work in Australia

Congrats on the positive assessment Amber! I believe AASW have changed the way they do assessments now and it’s taking much longer than it used to.

I arrived in Australia a month ago and been in...

Re: Social Work in Australia

Thanks!

The first thing I did after doing all the research etc was sent the IQA form to my university. That was June 2016. They didn’t reply until November 2016 but I wasn’t really chasing them...

Re: Social Work in Australia

No I didn’t have to do a personal statement. I think if you do the skilled employment assessment you may have to do one though. All the info should be on the AASW documentation. Looks like you’ve...

Re: Social Work in Australia

Yes I’ve applied for a 189 permanent residency visa. So that’s to live and work via skilled migration. I don’t know much about the other visas but I’m sure there may be social work opportunities for...

Hi. Congrats on your baby!

I had my positive assessment back in June after a wait of just under 20 weeks. I think they’re taking more like 22 weeks now. Not sure about the old...

Re: Social Work in Australia

Hi Maol.

My understanding is that the AASW will only count any experience as a social worker as skilled experience. So if you have 7 years experience after you got your social work qualification...

Re: Social Work in Australia

9 years experience is great though. You'll have to get the additional assessment done by AASW so they can verify the 9 years experience then you'll get your 15 points. I think it'll be a case of...

Re: Social Work in Australia
