Re: UK state pension and USA social security

I'm sorry I not sure if I'm understanding you correctly. Are you saying. If my husband gets $2000 half of that would be $1000. If I got $500 and they took $200 leaving me $300, then they'd give me...

Re: UK state pension and USA social security

Re: UK state pension and USA social security

I realize you don't have to be wealthy to have great chunks of your pension taken away. I was answering a reply that seemed to imply that as my husband and I had had such good incomes it was ok for...

Re: UK state pension and USA social security

No he won't be subject to WEP. He was born in America and has just retired. He's paid SS and all relevant taxes on all his earnings.

Re: UK state pension and USA social security

A number of people have told me they don't report there pensions because the US gov. Takes a chunk of them away. I know it's illegal, but I can't say I blame them.
As far as my being lucky my...

Re: UK state pension and USA social security

Because they are detailed doesn't make them fair. I feel I'm caught up in a system designed to deal with others problems. Being aware of something doesn't make it right. Having worked to earn my...

Re: UK state pension and USA social security

If you are over retirement age I didn't think you could buy any more credits to enhance your UK pension.

Re: UK state pension and USA social security

If your family income is above certain levels they increase the amount you pay for Medicare. They have increased mine three times. I now pay $538. My beef is that I paid into this system and they...

Re: UK state pension and USA social security

I am a British citizen and lived and worked in the UK and earned enough credits for a partial pension. I am now a US citizen and have worked for 12 years in the US and am entitled to a SS pension of...
