Yes, I once entered some numbers on an online calculator and it came to around 50%- actually about 55% for a full WEP reduction, meaning a SS payment of about 45% of what it would be without WEP.

Yes true, anyone retiring today needs 35 years for a full UK pension. But it was 30 years before, and I think the change was in April 2016, so as he's 67 he's already entitled to a full UK pension.

Yes you can get a UK pension. The minimum number of years changed from 1/4 of a number to 1 to 10. I don't remember the dates these were in force; if your retirement fell when the minimum was 1 year...

When I applied online I had the option of it starting the same month in which I applied, which I chose, but the payment for it arrived the next month.

or (with some people) with pensions from countries not as rich as Switzerland but with no reporting so no WEP. (which shows how unfair WEP is)
