You are correct in that aspect, but now that I am living in TX and cannot return to policing until I am a USC, I was looking at it as a serving, skill building/different line of work, schooling etc.

Verbatim from the Air Force. I think the Army is the only one to accept. One of the benefits of enlisting is to earn citizenship rather than rely on a 10 year card.

You could be right, but when I had a long chat with USCIS today they were very much of the view I would be getting another 12 month extension thereafter. Throw in a divorce waiver when it's made...
