To be fair, they are all ex-servicemen and had lived there while serving - so knew the country and had family to help; they moved back at the end of their military careers. So they all had good...

The OP surprised me; I've 3 ex-colleagues who live in Malta and they love it; the only real difference is they are all married to Maltese ladies, so will have some local knowledge.
