We are leaving mid-february for a trip abroad and will "activate" his PR on our return to Canada in mid-March!

I have just received a package from London with the originals of documents we had sent, i.e. wedding certificate and our flat lease. Is it common procedure for them to give it back to us?

No, it just says the same as it did when it was showing In Process, i.e., medicals have been received, we started processing the application on this date, etc.

My husband has just sent to CPC Ottawa the photographs and passport photocopies asked 2 days ago. We are now hoping the COPR will arrive very quickly :) Thanks everyone.

Update! My husband has received an email today asking for another medical certificate to be sent in the next 30 days.

I guess it means that they have looked at the documents we sent 3 months ago...

You can ask for it to renewd for an additonal 6 months without having to leave the country. You can do it online and scan all your documents. However, I believe you need to apply minimum 30 days...
