Interesting, I checked with the lady if she meant carry on or checked luggage and she repeated checked. It's no hassle to take it out and put it in my carry on if I've been given incorrect info.

I checked the status on CEAC and it says Administrative processing :) One Thing that I found weird is that above the status it says Nonimmigrant Visa Application. It's a little confusing that one...

Thanks for the helpful responses. I've trimmed the evidence down to a handful of photographs and there are the stamps in my old, damaged passport that they can take a look at.

I figured it probably wasn't an actual immigration employee but you'd have thought the embassy would make sure the people they're hiring to take their calls are always as accurate as possible.
