It will give you an idea of how your credentials will be assessed. If you cannot even talk about what your qualifications are worth, you may fail the interview (or not even get to interview).

That's true, but if you choose a widely-used evaluator (Foreign Academic Credential Services, for example), there is a good chance it will be accepted. If not, you have to apply for re-assessment...

If you want to use your qualifications in the USA, they need to be assessed by a reputable credential evaluator. http://www.naces.org
