There are at least three or four reasons it wouldn't work, including:

- You would need to effectively be estranged from all such overseas relatives
- If you have more than three such...

Unfortunately they do count, if she's also living in the UK (and from November they will count regardless). You can confirm this for yourself by reading the relevant migration booklet.
