I agree with MM. All offices here have their own rules regarding dress. However, I was dressed correctly iaw with their notice. I was not wearing sports...

Yes, you make a fair point on the legality issue. But I wonder what the wording is on the new rule regarding the issue of DL's? Or if its at the discretion of the LTO official at the time...

Correct. I did not have a Phils license until yesterday.

I have demonstrated that despite the new rules the Govt departments have their own interpretations of the rules.

It appears to me that LTO offices. BI and all other Government Agencies have their own interpretation of rules and regulations.


I shall be applying for my UK license to be converted to a Phils...

Just looked at the directive. Foreigners have to prove that they will stay in the country for at least one year. Nothing about residence status. Throw away ticket it has to be then. ...

Are you saying that those of us on a tourist visa, therefore a non-resident, cannot apply for a Philippines drivers license?

As a Brit, I could drive on my UK license for 3 months in the Philippines. I assume this applies to all nationalities. After that, you will need a Philippine license which is not too...
