I remember the ice on the inside of the windows too. Steel frames with a thin pane of glass. Council house estates were everywhere. Coal fire, downstairs only, and you'd freeze your rear end off...

Re: Who is from Yorkshire?

My dad was a miner at Houghton Main Colliery. I think my grandfather may have worked there at some point but don't recall if they ever worked together at the same pit. What a horrible and dangerous...

Re: Who is from Yorkshire?

Fish and chips. Hmmmmm. It's terrible. I haven't found any place around here who can actually make good fish and chips. Wow, I miss that more than just about anything else ( or maybe a good...

Re: Who is from Yorkshire?

Re: Who is from Yorkshire?

I'm from South Yorkshire and I've been here for 40 years. Still enjoy talking with my fellow countrymen/women and look forward to hearing from anyone out there who comes from the U.K.

Look...

Re: Who is from Yorkshire?

I'm from South Yorkshire originally - and was there until I joined the Air Force at the age of 18. After that lived in other parts of England and eventually left for the U.S. ending up initially in...
