Re: Price of gas update...

Beware, there are several issues with using that data to draw the conclusions you're looking for:

1. It includes capital and operating expenditure. The comparison you should make is with opex...

Re: Price of gas update...

It's 139.9 at the two Shell stations near us. The grocery store down the road is usually a few cents cheaper.

I've heard people wondering if it could pass below a dollar. I'd have thought profit...

Re: Price of gas update...

It's been that for a week or two at most places around us. One of the two Krogers on my way to work was at 140.9 yesterday.

Re: Price of gas update...

I would imagine so, and it may even be there already, somewhere near to a refinery. The Shell and HEB (grocery store) just down the road from us have been at $1.569 for about three weeks.

Re: Price of gas update...

Indeed. I just looked into it, and the only thing I can see that Horace might be confused with, is it was the worst first day's trading of the year since 2008.

If the Dow was actually as low as...

Re: Price of gas update...

Maybe Goldman just included 20% in their range, because they were caught out by the size of the big drop and how long it's lasted and now want to fully capture the volatility? And the headlines...

Re: Price of gas update...

Oh, and to address this paragraph directly: Venezuelan heavy oil is only economic at very high oil prices. And, as far as I know, the potential unconventional oil under The Weald is still only...

Re: Price of gas update...

Every year, analysts write that the oil price will go up, down or stay the same. Many of them tend to under-react to changes, then over-react to changes.

While no-one can truly predict what the...

Re: Price of gas update...

I thought you were in Katy?

Fairfield is the area around 290 and Mason, including the outlet mall.

Re: Price of gas update...

HEB in Fairfield had 152.9 one Sunday morning. I wish I'd taken a picture for posterity. Most of the places near us are nearer 1.95 now.

Re: Price of gas update...

There is a gas station that I pass on my way to work each morning that currently charges 319.9 (at Cypress North Houston and Jones Road). Bear in mind that there are several stations in the area...

Re: Price of gas update...

When you say, "we", who are you talking about?

In any case, you're addressing something that I didn't say. I was talking about production rate per well. Reservoirs onshore are, mostly, tighter...

Re: Price of gas update...

No, to cost and employment issues - each well onshore usually costs less and produces less but there are many more of them compared to offshore. Therefore there are more people employed in the...
