Russia and Venezuela both have large oil sands deposits... but the technology to exploit this large and important resource was developed primarily in Canada.

I might mention that in some areas, even though it involves natural resources... Canadian technology is a world leader. Canada is the world-leader in oil sands technology and in some other mining...

Have you ever heard of RIM or Nortel? They certainly are world-known and world-class. There are Canadian auto parts manufacturers that are well-know like Magna International to take one example. ...

No, US car makers have plants in Canada due to the (now expired) US-Canada auto pact. Ontario is branch-plant city due to the auto pact. More recent trade agreements have usurped the auto pact...
