Re: who cold is cold

I didn't even know about the suspension bridge until I viewed that website myself - because the bridge was only built last year. I was there in 2002.

That's hilarious! LOL!! :D

Re: who cold is cold

I forgot to answer your question regarding the lake-effect snowfall for Barrie. That would come more from Georgian Bay rather than Lake Simcoe since the prevailing winds are from the west. Lake...

Re: who cold is cold

Throughout Ontario, they are are very good at removing snow. That should be especially true in Barrie because they get so much of it. Believe it or not, there are people who can't wait for winter. ...

Re: who cold is cold

By the way, did you tour the caves in Blue Mountain? I did a few years ago, and they were pretty neat. These caves are small and narrow, but the Indians used to use them as refrigerators to store...

Re: who cold is cold

The way it works is that you are in a "rain shadow". This is where most of the precipitation falls on the windward side (western side, in BC's case) of the mountains, so that less precipitation can...

Re: who cold is cold

I would also go with Barrie, because it's so close to Wasaga Beach (at 14 km, the longest beach on a lake in the world), Blue Mountain with its ski hill (just west of Collingwood) and cottage...

Re: who cold is cold

I hate to tell you this, but in comparison to southern Ontario (during most summers) this summer in the Fraser Valley has been very comfortable, not at all sticky or humid.

Re: who cold is cold

Most of southern Ontario has some air pollution. As far as smog is concerned, it is worst along the highway 401 corridor. Cities from Windsor/Sarnia to Kitchener, Hamilton, and Toronto are about...

Re: who cold is cold

Kamloops, and Kelowna in BC, with Windsor in Ontario would have the longest "summers" in Canada.

Re: who cold is cold

I totally agree. I grew up in southern Ontario, and it normally gets a hell of a lot hotter than Calgary - Edmonton. I can only face a long cold winter if I can count on a nice warm summer, and...

Re: who cold is cold

I lived 7 years in Edmonton, plus another 8 years in Red Deer. On average the summers were too short and cool for me. I could take the winters, but I didn't care for the summers.

Yes, Ontario...

Re: who cold is cold

I've seen the summers in Alberta so cool and wet that aphids were everywhere in the hundreds of billions. One summer I don't think that the temp. reached 80 deg F. once. Having to wear a jacket at...

Re: who cold is cold

What????

I enjoyed my summers (in Ontario) at the cottage right next to the lake. The air pollution is minimal where our cottage is located. Often in Alberta, during the summers, I...

Re: who cold is cold

That's what I think, but the summers in Alberta suck - I prefer the summers in Ontario, but BC is even better.

Re: who cold is cold

The circumstances during the winter in your location in Port Coquitlam is very different than in Ontario, or the Canadian prairies. Where you are the constant winter dampness can lead to internal rot...

Since you're into biology, when will Okanagan nectarines and apples be in season around here? Better be before I go back to Mexico in about 3 weeks.

Re: how cold is cold

Often the reason they die from exhaust fumes (CO in the fumes actually), is because they have leaks in the exhaust system of the vehicle. It's a good idea to get this checked at a muffler place late...
