Re: Experience of renewing UK passport from overseas

I think they should have left it the way it was.

Re: Experience of renewing UK passport from overseas

I'd rather have to wait a bit for a first world passport that allows me to visit the US and Canada visa free/ESTA than one that doesn't offer such access. That said Msian passports are on par with...

Re: Experience of renewing UK passport from overseas

At least with our first world passports we have way more visa free countries and we are allowed dual nationality.

Re: Experience of renewing UK passport from overseas

Yes. Especially with the passport backlog happening at the mo. Where are you going back to SKMKISS? Canada or UK?

Re: Experience of renewing UK passport from overseas

For future reference, people on BE recommend that rather than including your foreign passport with your application for a UK passport, you include a photocopy of the biodata page, with a covering...

Re: Experience of renewing UK passport from overseas

Wow...... Seems like a long road for the UK gov to sorting this passport bollocks. IMO its ridiculous for a first world country to have this much chaos over passports.

Re: Experience of renewing UK passport from overseas

Oh oops :o

For some reason I was under the impression that you were triple US/Canadian/UK.

I guess that was possible as like JAJ said Canada doesn't require return tickets.

Re: Experience of renewing UK passport from overseas

I mostly agree here - but sometimes airline employees don't necessarily know the regulations of foreign countries. And by airline employees I mean the people who are at the desks issuing boarding...

Re: Experience of renewing UK passport from overseas

What do you mean exactly? That's great you flew to Canada on a Canadian airline, but what do you mean, did you use a Canadian passport, US, or UK? The Canadian airlines, who know CBSA and their...

Re: Experience of renewing UK passport from overseas

No it doesn't but the airlines like to be fussy about it and make you get a return ticket. Its a money game, and i'm sure a return ticket, whilst not required by the UKBA, would solidify the...

Re: Experience of renewing UK passport from overseas

True, but cuteandconfused mentioned she would travel on a one way, which is why I posted that bit :)

Re: Experience of renewing UK passport from overseas

Oh, and there are other posters on here who have done what you said, entering with a US passport, BUT, they had return tickets. Bottom line, airlines will NOT let you board on a one way ticket with...

Re: Experience of renewing UK passport from overseas

Its possible, but my advice is to apply for an Irish passport whilst in the US and use that to get to the UK. It will arrive much faster than your UK passport at the moment, and you won't have...

Re: Experience of renewing UK passport from overseas

They say they need the actual passport - nobody on here actually sends it in. Send a colour photocopy of ALL pages in the passport, including the front and back cover, along with a covering letter...

Re: Experience of renewing UK passport from overseas

AFAIK bio-data page means the info page where it states stuff like

Surname: SMITH
Given Name(s): JOHN DOE
Nationality/Nationalite: Canadian/Canadienne

etc.

Doesn't matter if the...

Re: Experience of renewing UK passport from overseas

Why he was asked to take a citizenship ceremony at all is my question - mum was born in Scotland, so he should have been British by descent no problem, correct? No ceremony needed.

Re: Experience of renewing UK passport from overseas

17 years? You're eligible for sure, as is your wife if she isn't already Irish... I'd go for it. You won't lose UK citizenship by doing so, you'll be able to have the conveniences of both British and...
