Re: Home and garden projects

My dishwasher has broken down a few times. The door switch died so I ordered a new one, but when replacing it I saw the old one had burn marks on the plastic connectors around the electrical cables....

Lawn update. If you recall I had weeds everywhere but now my lawn is lush and green.

Whoever said cut it short was wrong. Florida lawn weeds grow way too fast and very quickly overcome short...

Re: Home and garden projects

I learned the limits of this last weekend. Uneven drywall needs to be finished with a brush and a steady hand.

I bought one of these for painting against edges, it's so cheap and easy to use: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Shur-Line-4-75-in-x-3-75-in-Edger-Pro-2006561/202080280

Well that would be me and I would give myself at least 3 our of 5 stars on Google.

My house is mostly concrete block covered in stucco. I'm going to gather as much info as I can for the time...

Re: Home and garden projects

Re: Home and garden projects

Has anyone ever installed windows or entry doors themselves? Is it really difficult, or not worth the trouble?

Re: Home and garden projects

It looks to me like a bad install. There's a straight crack through the sink but one side is about 1mm higher than the other.

I think a good repair guy could fix it, if it was level.

I'll look around at the weekend for a nice granite version on sale. But, all the cabinets and counter will be replace in a few years; this is just temporary.

Anyone here ever done a concrete kitchen countertop.

I'm looking for a 2-3 year stopgap for a broken slab of granite in my kitchen. It's a real eyesore.

Concrete is appealing because it's...

Re: Home and garden projects

They are probably better suited to smaller houses or single rooms.

I have a small one for the whole house, 3 bed / <2000sqft, and I don't have those problems.

Re: Home and garden projects

I didn't have that much to cover, but I did 40 bags this year when they were on offer at HD for $1.50 each. HD and Lowes do the same offer every year at the same time.

Re: Home and garden projects

Just did the gutters on the house. One needed a complete overhaul, the rest were missing.

Down here contractors charge a small fortune for gutters but the parts are cheap.

Amazon Prime Now.... 2 hour delivery. If I can find them at Home Depot, or Ace, I'd go get them and install today. But I'll just get the spray from HD.

I have to find them locally, no way I want to go up in the attic again in the heat we get here!

I like the idea of the adhesive spray too.
