"Eire" is simply the Gaelic for "Ireland". It has been used in error to designate the 26 counties of the Republic as opposed to the whole island. That is the bone of contention. Names and labels are...

After years of teaching in faraway p[laces, I returned to my native Scotland at the age of 64. I did not have the luxury of a teacher's pension but I made a life for myself.
