Perhaps they are wearing masks due to the levels of pollution in Manila, I would expect them to be quite effective against diesel particulates.

Regarding the establishment of a CDC here note that genome sequencing comes from a unit at UP. Takes a month for results and has low capacity. Apart from talking about finding small numbers of cases...

With a large proportion of the population vaccinated sure there's a good chance anyone in hospital would have been vaccinated.

It's all about immune escape, there's no such thing as herd immunity in such cases. Covid does seem to be waning in severity so perhaps it with become like the common cold, no more than an annoyance.

I guess as long as vaccine deaths are on!y a fraction of the covid deaths the vaccine still wins, Only time will tell.

I think you need to be careful relating death rate with vaccine rollout. During a surge more people will get vaccinated but also unrelated more poeple will die from covid.

The child vaccinations is an interesting video but I can't help thinking Dr John is missing a trick. Ok there was 22 adverse events and 5 serious illnesses but not vaccinating would have prevented...

Also the proportion of deaths to number of cases is far greater it the Philippines compared to those European countries so is it the poorer healthcare in the Philippines or vastly under counting of...

The reason deaths from heart attacks etc are up is because it's virtually impossible to get into hospital in any timely manner because of the covid restrictions. You need a covid test and quarantine...

XE could be the next surge. It's become pretty clear now that the vaccines are not preventing you from catching covid, but thankfully are still keeping people out of hospital.

Seniors tend to suffer from more comorbilities and won't be vacinated if they have raised blood pressure, which most seniors do.

We have been showing vaccine card for a while but what has changed in the last few days a local mall has been asking for id and turning away 65 and ups.

What I took from his comments was out of the 154k deaths so far 137k (89%) had comorbidities. Perhaps I was being over simplistic.
