Re: Supporting The Guardian

Didn't read it, but there was some article on how the Guardian's funding model is starting to work for it.

Re: Supporting The Guardian

Now there's a thread I've not seen in a long time.

Saw the Guardian article, but did not read when I realised it was some drummed up sexual inequality trope. Too many 'first world problems' in...

Re: Supporting The Guardian

Gender pay gap is indeed tricky. I didn't know either of the actors in The Crown so that explanation makes a bit more sense.

Re: Supporting The Guardian

Who are the 0.3%? In any case, 200,000 fellow citizens is a significant number. English should be compulsory for anyone under the age of, say, 50.

Re: Supporting The Guardian

I think I saw that, if it was the Voodoo Hoodoo, and thought the same. Last year I was bike shopping and concluded that a 'decent' bike started at £400, but that you could get a perfectly good...

Re: Supporting The Guardian

This new Guardian style is so ugly. It's hard to believe that someone actually thinks headlines "highlighted" in yellow boxes, and liberal use of pink and violet colour accents actually looks good? ...

Two weekend broadsheets! You're obviously not spending enough time on the internet.

Re: Supporting The Guardian

I think I preferred the old masthead /colour scheme, now looks a bit old fashioned.

Re: Supporting The Guardian

Those article limits get annoying though. You start getting into the paper and your limit is up.

It's rational to avoid paying now compared to print days. There is just so much free interesting...

Re: Supporting The Guardian

Nope, I like the free news. Have had a few subs in the past, but they add up.
Once they start bundling papers and magazines into a subscription I will probably sign up again.

Re: Supporting The Guardian

Oh, thank you. I hadn't thought of that. Didn't the NYT used to have pay wall, back in the mists of time? I seem to remember at one point wanting to access it and not being able to. Anyway, I...

Re: Supporting The Guardian

Sounds like they better revise their model sooner rather than later. Not sure who I would go to if I had to pay, used to be Times/Telegraph back in the day, but with their Brexit stance, that would...

Re: Supporting The Guardian

Not sure. Maybe our Guardian expert Senhor Bristol would know better. But they're appeal does suggest they're feeling the strain of running a big media presence with low subscriptions. I guess we...

Supporting The Guardian

There are a few 'Grauniads' on here...anybody supporting it? They seem to be stepping up their "voluntary support" campaign in the efforts to avoid a paywall. I'm not, so far, although I do feel a...
