It is calculated risk, agree with that, and I assumed that he and his wife at least had that aspect sorted. On reading a couple of posts, it seemed he was very disheartened with prospects in Britain...

Go for it ! Make as clean a break with Scotland/UK as you can and give yourself 2-5 years to see if Canada is for you. No matter what you do, there is always the option to return to Britain, for...
