Re: British citizen living abroad? Non-EEA spouse? This may affect you!

So so sadly true!
My wife really is the most trusting person in the world and the poor lass has to field umpteen questions on a daily basis about where her husband and children are and why she isn't...

Re: British citizen living abroad? Non-EEA spouse? This may affect you!

The certificate takes a month and the diploma 2 months if studied full time intensively. The Diploma is pretty much essential for getting a well paid (over 18,600) job in the UK.
I'm studying my...

Re: British citizen living abroad? Non-EEA spouse? This may affect you!

Yes I've lived in Thailand and my diploma is costing me 2500 quid but I believe it will pay for itself within 12 months because of the higher salary it attracts.

Once I have the diploma I will...

Re: British citizen living abroad? Non-EEA spouse? This may affect you!

That is EXACTLY our situation too. I don't want us to 'settle' anywhere permanently, but I really do want the boys to spend a quality few years in the UK getting to truly understand this part of...

Re: British citizen living abroad? Non-EEA spouse? This may affect you!

Can anyone explain why the motion was withdrawn?
I don't understand. It was a great debate with loads of genuine concerns raised and articulately presented, followed by a weak and frankly abysmal...

Re: British citizen living abroad? Non-EEA spouse? This may affect you!

I really feel for you Sarus. Can I ask whether or not you have a recognized teaching qualification like PGCE, DTLLS or TESOL Diploma?

Re: British citizen living abroad? Non-EEA spouse? This may affect you!

Englishguygoinghome, that is awesome work my friend!

I will see if I can get opinions of one or two Immigration Lawyers about this because it sounds almost too good to be true. My kids genuinely...

Re: British citizen living abroad? Non-EEA spouse? This may affect you!

I can only judge Harper on how he has responded to my case and can therefore only judge him as being very slow to respond, cruelly judgmental and 'apparently' an evil cad in the same mold as Theresa...

Re: British citizen living abroad? Non-EEA spouse? This may affect you!

Just chatted to my wife on Skype and we realized that due to the 7-8 hour time difference, after I begin work (tomorrow) we will no longer be able to chat during the week.
Basically I begin work at...

Wow!
I wish my MP (David Laws) had made such an effort - any effort in fact - with my case

Re: British citizen living abroad? Non-EEA spouse? This may affect you!

Thanks Rebeccajo.
I'm just lucky, very lucky in fact, that my parents can look after the boys while I do my 6 months. And I'm lucky that my wife is so trusting and patient.
At least there is now...

Re: British citizen living abroad? Non-EEA spouse? This may affect you!

Thanks RM, this is very useful.

The family visit issue though remains a grey area open to interpretation:

"It is reasonable, however, for the ECO to consider the stated purpose of the visit in...

Re: British citizen living abroad? Non-EEA spouse? This may affect you!

Callowman you're right to want info from the UKBA horses mouth since it's clear that they have their own guidelines which are not actually written anywhere on the UKBA website and/or in law.

Re: British citizen living abroad? Non-EEA spouse? This may affect you!

Don, I don't think you HAVE to have been cohabiting for the last 6 months, in fact (if you're relying on proof of minimum 6 months work in the UK earning 18,600 pa) this would only be possible if...
