Re: UK state pension and USA social security

ButWhy, if SSA apply the W.E.P. To your social security check, the reduction will be no more than 50% of your weekly U.K. Pension.

Re: UK state pension and USA social security

o.k. That’s great. Seems I am confusing something I read, maybe what I read is from the old scheme where you only needed 30 years nic’s.

Re: UK state pension and USA social security

My concern would be that the dept of works and pensions would require you to have a minimum of 10/11 years NIC’s before being allowed to buy any more years.

of course you should call dwp as I may...

Re: UK state pension and USA social security

If anyone would be kind enough to post in here the exchange rate they got from their dwp/citi pension payment conversion along with the date that conversion occurred I would be most appreciative.

Re: UK state pension and USA social security

O.k. Lansbury, I was just wondering if anyone had done a more scientific comparison than my effort. Anyway, you seem to be saying that the rate dwp will obtain for me from Citi would be better than...

Re: UK state pension and USA social security

Thanks Midatlantic. Does anyone else on here know if Transferwise + their fee is a better deal than the citi route. For pension transfers I doubt I’d be looking at much more than £1,000 held in a...

Re: UK state pension and USA social security

Thanks Nutmegger. I recall a thread from last year where Pulaski mentioned that the dwp use Citibank to make this work. I also recall Lansbury saying he uses Transferwise. It would be interesting to...

Re: UK state pension and USA social security

Sorry to hear your brother is distressed about this. I find it takes ages to hear back from them. Possibly due to my unorthodox method of paying my annual NIC's, it's takes them six months to come...

Re: UK state pension and USA social security

Thanks for advice nun.

HMRC hopefully did you a service by showing your pre 1975 record in the form of credits, instead of dates and work contribution. This, hopefully increases the likelihood...

Re: UK state pension and USA social security

Hi Hutchiebug

What I meant was, what did you say when you wrote back to the agent n New Mexico that might convince him to accept that your pre 1975 NIC contributions should be excluded from any...

Re: UK state pension and USA social security

Nun, in my case voluntary NIC's were class 2. I project a Grand Total of about £2500 for 19 units in payments to dwp. Am I correct in assuming I am only only going to avoid tax on something like...

Re: UK state pension and USA social security

I was shocked that the Telegraph printed this information without ridiculing it.
