Re: British Passports when in Australia

Thanks - too much wine and a rush to get things done...

Turns out my countersignatory doesn't have a valid passport because he uses a national ID card over in Europe and isn't bothered about...

Re: British Passports when in Australia

How picky are they with the countersignature requirement, which they seem to leave up to the applicant as to whether it's required or not?

I'm currently about to renew my daughter's passport...

Re: British Passports when in Australia

Hmm, I could have sworn I had to do it the last time around as part of the regular procedure for everyone.

This is the first time I saw that you could bypass this if your appearance hasn't changed...

Re: British Passports when in Australia

Do I recall correctly that previously we had to get our photos countersigned each time?

Right now the passport process is smooth as silk. Type in some info online, print, sign, throw in two...

Re: British Passports when in Australia

Actually courier A didn't end up leaving the package at the PO, so as a result we had two different DHL couriers over today (corporate efficiency, eh?). Neither required anything docs and both...

I already have one package at the post office and a second one coming by courier tomorrow. Can't be there to pick up either but I hope the statutory declaration works with both or else I have a plane...

Re: British Passports when in Australia

That might take a while - me being in QLD and them being in Ice Station Zebra (NSW).

I did have a Justice of the Peace sign an authorisation letter that included copies of my passport and their DL...

Anyone know if you have to be at home personally when the courier comes or whether one's parents can accept the package?

Re: British Passports when in Australia

Why not just bing it? According to the official site +44 (0)300 222 0000 (remember to drop the zero if calling from abroad) this is the number to call from outside the UK.

Re: British Passports when in Australia

I have a GP I know in Sydney so maybe they will be willing to...

Re: British Passports when in Australia

I used to get a JP that I've known for years sign the photos, but can I just get any JP nowadays? They won't mind that the person hasn't known me for a single day? I'm surprised that a teacher isn't...

Re: British Passports when in Australia

What the deal with countersigning photos for a passport application? Can I go to a Justice of the Peace or does the person actually need to know you for 2+ years?

The last time I checked I recall reading that they...
