With respect to the animal spotting comments, those comments were for my benefit and weren't to deviate from the thread topic, they were inline with the flow of conversation in the thread.

Great photographs, that is definitely my kind of lifestyle. Seeing a bear coming to your garden must be scary but amazing!

Massively late reply but this thread has moved quickly! Thanks that sounds amazing! We're very able to get up early, did a tour around northern India late last year and got up around 5am too many...

I'm driving across from Vancouver to Calgary in July. I think I'll check out your area and say hi to the bears :)

I do appreciate the poster for posting her view. Contrasting views help those of us considering the move and highlight things we may not like. However I was finding it quite depressing to read!
