I was using it in a general sense. It wasn’t to imply that the law was the same.

The US citizen parent in this case was herself a citizen by descent and hadn’t met the residence requirements for the child to be a US citizen at birth.

Your daughter would’ve become a US citizen upon arrival in the US. You can apply now directly for a US passport. A Certificate of Citizenship application is not required but would provide standalone...

As the mother was not born in the US nor has completed the required residence period prior to the birth of the child then please ignore this post.

A Consular Report of Birth Abroad followed by a US passport application would’ve been the correct procedure. You can apply directly for a passport now from within the US but there would be no...
