That's only for driving licences with no expiry date. If you have a licence with a 10 or 15 year validity period then you can use it until it expires before having to convert to an Italian licence.

Because there are far more EU27 residents of the UK then there are British residents in the EU27.

Given that there are far more Italians resident in the UK than Britons resident in Italy it would be in Italy's interest to do a deal as soon as possible.

I would've thought the opposite to be true. If you passed your test in the UK then you'll always be able to get your GB licence back. Currently you can do a straight swap your GB licence to get an...
