Re: My experience of going the Surinder Singh route so far

Next year? It is a distinct possibility that the UK will be leaving without a Withdrawal Agreement on 31 October. I hope you have a Plan B.

Re: My experience of going the Surinder Singh route so far

Technically he can but your husband would have difficulty proving his right to work. Better to apply for an EEA Family Permit and use that for the initial six months whilst you wait for his EEA...

Re: My experience of going the Surinder Singh route so far

There's a very great difference between the two. The former merely allows you to visit the UK and get married; the latter permits you to marry and apply to stay. Your wife almost did apply for a...

Re: My experience of going the Surinder Singh route so far

If the transition period goes ahead as currently agreed then, yes, the SS route will continue. If memory serves me correctly your wife applied for a Marriage Visitor, not a fiancée visa, which is why...

Re: My experience of going the Surinder Singh route so far

Your in-laws could join you in the RoI as your wife's dependent parents. Whether it's a good idea to take your in-laws away from their home country, particularly when the immigration route they are...

Re: My experience of going the Surinder Singh route so far

Six months is the legal maximum under EU law. Anecdotally it’s usually three to four months but it will vary depending on workflow.

Re: My experience of going the Surinder Singh route so far

The airline won't let her board the flight in Germany without a valid visa.

Re: My experience of going the Surinder Singh route so far

Ireland is not part of the Schengen Area so a Schengen visa would not valid for travel to Ireland.

Re: My experience of going the Surinder Singh route so far

She’ll need a visa to travel to Ireland. All residence cards must be issued within six months under EU law. Finding work should dictate which country you choose - Ireland is an Anglophone country so...

Re: My experience of going the Surinder Singh route so far

1) There is no hard and fast rule. As a rule of thumb you should be living in the EU country in question for at least six months. I would wait at least until your wife and step-daughter have received...

Re: My experience of going the Surinder Singh route so far

That is the theory. Whether it would work in practice remains to be seen. I would urge caution as there's no guarantee it will work.

Once you have moved to Germany and found work your mother...

Re: My experience of going the Surinder Singh route so far

She is likely to require a permit or visa in order to travel. You would need to demonstrate that your mother was dependent on you to be successful.

Re: My experience of going the Surinder Singh route so far

Sorry to hear that you wasted so much money. Unfortunately there are a lot of unscrupulous lawyers who will happily take your money even when they know that is little to no chance of success.

To...

Re: My experience of going the Surinder Singh route so far

I think you're getting ahead of yourself. Your wife will need a job in whichever country you move to. I would make that a priority and if your wife does find employment that will solve the problem of...

Re: My experience of going the Surinder Singh route so far

If your wife has a good job in the UK, why attempt the SS route? Does she not earn over £18,600 per year?

Re: My experience of going the Surinder Singh route so far

Re: My experience of going the Surinder Singh route so far

A two week visit to London won't be a problem as the Common Travel Area means there are no passport controls between the UK and the RoI. A permanent move via SS will be more difficult. Are there any...
