Yeah that's our plan if we can afford it (according to craigslist it looks promising), when I said way down the thread can we be a one car family I meant in terms of him walking/cycling to work.

we'll be put up in serviced apartments in the middle of Santa Monica, DH can drive but I appreciate will be working so I'll be carless until I learn, so this might be a pro to learning before we go

good point...ok, where do we need to live close enough for DH to bus/cycle/walk/carpoole to Santa Monica (the Yahoo Village apparently) but also a walkable neighbourhood for me and the kids

yup, I want to make sure we can afford a comfortable enough lifestyle if we're going to move halfway across the world! I would say our life in London is comfortable, others might not...after paying...

oh yeah I'll def learn to drive (I need the excuse anyhow!) and we'll get a car between us. I do both paid and free theatre work here already (that's the way it works on the London fringe theatre...

ok, so maybe it's better to say how we would live in an ideal world, or what our needs our

1) for me and the kids to fly home twice a year
2) to have 3 decent sized bedrooms and outside space
