Aha, so being a named driver on someone's policy in Canada does count towards Canadian no-claims history? That's an interesting piece of information !!

That's a bit unfortunate !!

Not that I'm against govt regulation of the insurance business, mind you. The way bioscience is evolving, it's not unreasonable to expect tests to become available...

AFAIK, the insurance business is all about being able to assess risk. If you're better at it than your competitor, either one of the following happens when you quote a customer:

That's true, but take the (purely hypothetical) case of, say, a Belgian and a Dutch person with 10 years of driving history in the UK. The company would set rates (and discriminate) based on where...

Just a quick update... apparently the crazy quotes are due to us living in fair Mississauga. Rates for Milton (16km further out from Toronto) are almost half. Also I got some discount for taking out...

Ok I got in touch with Stevenson & Hunt, London, Ontario. They said YES we'll take her UK driving experience into account!! Whoohoo !! Then they produced a quote for... wait for it... $6534 per year...

Yes - TD came up with the best quote: $4035/yr.

Just called State Farm for an additional quote. They say (and I quote):

"There aren't any insurance companies in Canada that take UK no-claims history into account"

Can anyone confirm that...

Ok, I've gotten a quote from TD, Desjardins, belair, Johnsons, and the professional organisation's group insurance.

NONE of those companies are willing to take her UK no claims history into...
